Ground Beef Tips and Recipes

TIPS TO COOK GROUND BEEF

Here are my top tips for perfectly browned ground beef:

  • Add 1-2 teaspoons oil or butter to the pan to help brown the meat.

  • Make sure that the pan and oil are brought to temperature before adding the meat in order to properly and evenly brown it.

  • Use a wooden spatula to break the ground beef up, but do not break into too small of pieces or the meat will dry out.

  • The meat is done when there are no more pink spots, about 7-10 minutes.

Meatloaf Variations

  • Try adding 1/2 a pound ground pork to your ground beef to add a new flavor profile.

  • Make Taco Meatloaf by seasoning the meat with taco spice, onions, chili powder and bell peppers. Cook like traditional meatloaf. In the final 10 minutes add shredded cheese and tortilla strips to the top and brown. Serve with sliced avocados and sour cream.

  • Make personal size meatloafs by placing the seasoned ground beef into muffin tins before baking. This is a great idea for make ahead meals and meal prepping.
